20th July 2024
Thank you to those who have taken the time to send in some feedback – as promised here are the anonymised items so far:-
- As an organiser, all good.
- Maybe, more control of opening date for each event would be good (?).
- Please discuss ‘our’ proposed date with us, before finalising…thanks
- Please can we promote the series to Street car to bring new blood into rallying. Steve Thompson could help with that as long as we prioritise their entries. The old guard have had it to themselves too long.
- Need to have a couple of starter evenings
- We have had a few new streetcar interests this season and it would be nice to get them on board
- Shepherd Compello do not do rally insurance anymore, but REIS might
- Do we need to flag up the proposed ( by MSUK) new Code Board regulation that CNs will be sited parallel to the road, so cars have to slow to read?
- An increase in mileage to 60 miles approx, as a lot of events last year finished a fair distance from the pub so putting in an additional final section would have been appreciated
- Maybe adding a couple of 20/20’s into the mix to spice things up, with maybe double points, I would be happy to organise one
- An reduction in the number of dropped scores if we’re running 9 events
- Winning crews should be asked to go up a grade this will prevent “beginner crews ” staying beginners all season
- Crews automatically go up grades after a certain number of events up to semi-expert afterwards at crew discretion
- Marked map crews maybe starting with a 2 fail handicap
- Join rally school and beginner level to create a separate series, only 3-5 controls, but get them into the swing of using the nav. View to getting them up to Novice standard.
- Restrict the main championship to novice, semi and expert
- Full points (as though winning the round) for organisers (only claimable once in season)
- like XXXXX,s ideas. but that won’t happen
- In general, happy with current/proposed regs but the entry-opening date should be 6-8 weeks before each event rather than allowing block-booking of the whole year’s rounds.
- Have table top rally to help beginners.
- Longer events without having to finish at pub.
- Play a joker card on a event of yr choice and get double points.
- An expert should team up with a novice on 1 event.
- Need a method of resolving ties for the championship! If Bob/Wug and Simon/Derek were tied on number of wins as well as points, we’d have had a harder time deciding an overall winner. Points, then wins, then ?? Average of fails per event? Marshal points?
- Also I don’t think the ties for position worked altogether, as there was no definition of how many points each crew would get if they tied. Let’s say there was a tie for first and they were 0F/0M, or the same on furthest cleanest. Should both crews get 20 points each?
- There should be a set time within which to lodge a query or protest, my suggestion is that all results on the night are provisional and queries are allowed if submitted to the organisers by Saturday at 22:00 (so roughly 24 hours later). Then final results, route and nav are distributed on the Sunday/Monday.
- Consider whether marshalling points should be added into the competitor tables? Does the 5/7/15 points for marshals reflect overall effort?
- No changes from me
- resolve TIES – These will be resolved on the “furthest cleanest” basis and failing that points will be shared equally by the crews involved.
- There was a case where 2 crews cleaned a rally and tied for the win – both were awarded 20 points. However, the regulation about suggests that they should have either had 10 points each (i.e. shared 20 equally) or had 17.5 points each (i.e. shared equally the total of 20 for 1st and 15 for 2nd).
- Otherwise perhaps introduce another form of tie-break when more than one crew cleans the rally with 0 pens.
- Clarify the positioning of the TC boards (distance from the marshals), specify what is supposed to happen (stop!) and where the time is taken to, ie: is it at the board when the car stops, or when the car stops at the manned point…
- I think the ‘draw’ provision should stay and not return to engine size. Perhaps there needs to be clarification on how points are shared. My suggestion is that the points for the two positions are added then dived equally and the next position down gets the points for that position as per normal.
- I’m not convinced the stop board is needed at all. It causes confusion, I’m not aware anyone has ever been penalised. I also question the wisdom of having a stop board on a public road.
- I found these events challenging and well organised.
- It would be good if we could include a 20/20 event if possible and continue to support new blood into our sport keeping a focus on the Beginners perhaps include an online Table Top event, not for experts.
- Entries should only open 6/8 weeks before events rather than all open at the begining.
